Lausanne – The idilic alpine resort of Berchtesgaden, in Germany, is ready to host the third stage of the 2024 ISMF Youth World Cup season, and everything is set to unfold in an adrenaline-fueled spectacle. This year’s edition promises to be a showcase of pure athleticism and youthful vigor, featuring the best U18 and U20 skimo athletes from across the globe. The competition will unfold across two intense disciplines, the challenging vertical race and the demanding individual race, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Bavarian Alps.
The event will also host the International University Championships endorsed by FISU, an open race that will take place on Saturday right before the vertical race, open to athletes between 18 and 25 years old that are currently studying at University.
With 121 athletes from 16 different nations, the Skimo Youth World Cup boasts a truly international field. The competition will witness the prowess of 34 female athletes and 87 male athletes, each eager to carve their mark in the snow. On the start lists we will see familiar names like Louise Trincaz (FRA), Lea Ancion Havet (AND), Clizia Vallet (ITA), Lynn Pollinger (SUI), Vanessa Marca (ITA), Jules Raybaud (FRA), Hermann Debertolis (ITA), Eric Canovi (ITA), Enricco Pellegrini (ITA) or Theo Voutaz (SUI), just to name a few of the athletes that have been already on the podium this season, both at the previous Youth World Cups or at the European Championships.
The picturesque landscapes of Berchtesgaden, with its majestic peaks and pristine snow, provide an ideal canvas for this grand spectacle. Beyond the competition, the event is a celebration of youth, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie. Founded in 2007, the ISMF is the global governing body for competitive ski mountaineering. Since 2016, the organisation has been officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
