
Lausanne, 6 May 2025 – The International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) held an Extraordinary Plenary Assembly on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The Assembly, held in virtual mode, saw a large participation of National Members around the world.
Three approvals were reached during the Assembly. The most important was the approval of the 2024/25 budget, a key milestone for the Federation’s financial planning and activities.
The Assembly also approved the date of the 2025 Plenary Assembly (18 October 2025), that will be held in Cancùn, Mexico.
President of the Compliance Office managed the roll call and voting process, ensuring transparency and adherence to procedural protocols outlined in the ISMF Statutes.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the ISMF President Regula Meier closed the session by thanking participants on their trust and acknowledging the staff’s efforts in preparation for the meeting.

Founded in 2007, the ISMF is the global governing body for competitive ski mountaineering. Since 2016, the organisation has been officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Its main goals are the promotion, regulation and development of the sport of ski mountaineering worldwide. Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, the ISMF’s membership consists of 55 national federations located in Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. The ISMF organizes ski mountaineering Senior and Youth World Cups, as well as Masters and World Championships. For the first time, ski mountaineering was a medal sport at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland, and has been included in the programme of the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games.
