Lausanne – It looks like Italy has a new rising star on the Men’s U20 category: Hermann Debertolis, only 19 years old but already European champion on verticals, and now winner of the vertical race of the ISMF Youth World Cup Jennerstier.
He managed to outsprint Jules Raybaud (FRA) by only three seconds on the finish line, enough not only to put him on top of the podium in this race, but also leading the U20 overall ranking of the season with just one more race to do.
The bronze medal was for Griffin Briley (USA), on his first year as U20 and first race of the season for the young American.
On the U20 women’s race, it was Louise Trincaz who proved to be unbeatable once again, adding another metal to her already extensive collection for this season, that includes one gold and one silver medals at the European Championships and two golds and one silver in previous Youth World Cups. Trincaz managed to have a 38 second sdifference with the second athlete on the finish line, her teammate Loanne Rousillon (FRA), while the bronze medal was for the Spaniard Berta Guitart, first international podium of her career.
Trincaz is also the leader of the season overall ranking, with 60 points of difference with Lea Ancion Havet (AND), who is currently sitting in the second place.
Malik Uldry (SUI) was the strongest on the day on the younger category of the Men’s, crossing the finish line with almost 15 seconds of a lead over his teammate Theo Voutaz (SUI), while Lorenzo Milesi managed to claim the bronze medal on the day, just three seconds ahead of other pair of Italians, Enrico Pellegrini and Luca Curioni, who needed a photofinish to decide the fourth and fifth place.
On the season overall ranking, the fourth place of Pellegrini was enough to keep him on the lead for the moment, while Uldry is currently in second place.
On the Women’s U18 category, it was Italy’s Silvia Boscacci the one claiming the victory, opening quite a gap from the beginning to cross the finish line with almost half a minute over Klara Velepec (SLO). The bronze medal was for Melissa Bertolina (ITA). Lynn Pollinger’s fifth place today -almost three minutes behind the leader- was enough to put her in the lead of the overall ranking for the season.
The idilic alpine resort of Berchtesgaden, in Germany, hosted the third stage of the 2024 ISMF Youth World Cup season, The competition will continue tomorrow on the idilic Bavarian Alps with the individual race.
