Val Martello hosts the next ISMF World Cup, with an Individual and a Mixed Relay

Wednesday, March 19, 2025 – Val Martello (Italia)

We are heading into the 7th World Cup of the season (out of a total of 9), right in the heart of Stelvio National Park, for the Marmotta Trophy. Held annually since 2008, this event has hosted several ISMF World Cups as well as other major national Ski Mountaineering competitions.On the program: an Individual race (20/03) and a Mixed Relay race (22/03).

Individual Race – Thursday, March 20

Start Women – 10:15 (CET), Start Men – 9:30 (CET)
Award Ceremony – 12:00 (CET) The races will start from ex-Hotel Paradiso (📍 location), with 78 athletes expected at the starting line: 24 women and 54 men, representing 18 nations.

Athletes to Watch

Women’s top 3 ISMF ranking: Axelle Gachet Mollaret (FRA) Emily Harrop (FRA) and Lorna Bonnel (FRA).

Keep an eye on Tove Alexandersson (SWE), the 2025 Individual World Champion, as well as Alba De Silvestro (ITA), who’s been in a great shape in recent competitions.

On men’s side, the top 3 ISMF ranking athletes are: Rémi Bonnet (SUI), Thibault Anselmet (FRA) and Samuel Equy (FRA). Other strong contenders include Xavier Gachet (FRA) and William Bon Mardion (FRA), along with Davide Magnini (ITA), the current World Vice-Champion.

Qualification Women – 9:15 (CET), Qualification Men – 9:50 (CET), Final B – 10:45 (CET), Final A – 11:45
Award Ceremony – 12:50 (CET) The races will start from the Biathlon Centre “Grogg” (📍 location), with 85 athletes on the entry list, representing 22 nations.

Teams to Watch

The top 3 nations in the ISMF Mixed Relay rankings so far this season are: Spain – 290 points, Switzerland – 262 points and France – 253 points. While the team compositions are yet to be confirmed, one thing is certain: France and Spain will have less pressure than other nations since they have already secured their Olympic qualification thanks to their results at the World Championships.

About the ISMF:

Founded in 2007, the ISMF is the global governing body for competitive ski mountaineering. Since 2016, the organisation has been officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
