
Villars-sur-Ollons – Three days of skimo action planned this weekend in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland, for the fourth stop of the ISMF World Cup circuit in 2024. More than 110 of the best skimo athletes of the world, representing a total of 19 countries, will gather in the iconic Swiss Alpine resort.
The action-packed schedule kicks off on Friday with a breathtaking Sprint Race, where athletes will push their limits on the fast and furious format. The compact course, that most of the athletes already know as it is a classic stop on the circuit, promises intense moments of strategy and agility as competitors navigate challenging terrain, making every second count in their quest for victory.
Toeing the start line for this race Will be the current leaders of the ranking on Sprint format, Mariana Jagercikova (SVK) and Thibault Anselmet (FRA), along with athletes that have been in the podium so far this season, like Celia Perillat-Pessey (FRA), Emily Harrop (FRA), Oriol Cardona (ESP), Arno Lietha (SUI) or Inigo Martinez de Albornoz (ESP), but also other top-class athletes like Marta García Farres or Ana Alonso (ESP), Giulia Murada (ITA), Marianne Fatton (SUI), Robin Galindo (FRA), Nicolo Canclini (ITA) or Iwan Arnold (SUI) just to name a few.
Following the sprint excitement, the stage is set for the Mixed Relay race on Saturday, adding an extra layer of anticipation and teamwork to the competition. Teams composed of both male and female athletes will collaborate seamlessly, combining strength and strategy in this dynamic relay format. Expect a display of incredible synchronization and seamless transitions as each team strives to outpace their rivals.
The climax of the ISMF Skimo World Cup in Villars sur Ollon reaches its zenith with the Individual Race, scheduled for Monday. This challenging test of endurance and skill will see athletes tackling a demanding course, showcasing their prowess in ascending and descending the snow-covered slopes. With each competitor vying for individual glory, the race promises a spectacle of athleticism, determination, and sheer grit.
Current leaders of the ranking on this race like Remi Bonet (SUI) and Emily Harrop (FRA) will try their best to continue their winning strike, but the likes of Xavier Gachet (FRA), Alba de Silvestro (ITA), Giulia Compagnioni (ITA), Michele Boscacci (ITA) or Matteo Eidallyn (ITA), among others.
With a stellar lineup of athletes from around the globe converging on Villars sur Ollon, spectators can anticipate fierce competition and intense rivalries that will undoubtedly elevate the event to unprecedented heights.
